Preparing for your Visit

1. Medical History: Please bring your medical records, including any previous MRI scans, X-rays, and MRI scan reports.

2. Past Treatment: Details on previous Spine Consultations, physiotherapy or procedures before your appointment would be most helpful.

3. Medications: Bring the list of all medications you are currently taking.

4. Symptoms: Note down any symptoms you are experiencing, including their duration and severity.

During your Consultation

Initial Consultation

Arrival: Arrive 10-15 minutes early to complete the registration at the reception desk. If your treatment is through your insurance company, the reception desk will need your insurance details (Policy Number & Authorisation Code).

MRI Scan

Recommendation: An MRI scan is the most accurate way of visualising any spinal condition. It is far better than an X-ray or CT scan in identifying the nerves, discs, muscles, and other structures that cause spinal problems.

The MRI department will assist you to book the scan at your convenience.

There is NO risk of radiation with MRI Scans

Preparation: You will receive an email from the Hospital MRI scan department confirming the date and time of the MRI scan Appointment.

After your Consultation

Post-Consultation Care

Follow-Up: My Secretary Dina will make sure that your Follow Up Appointment is booked in advance as soon as you had your MRI scan.

Treatment Plan: We will have a discussion on the findings on your MRI scan. My first choice is to manage your pain with physiotherapy.

If physiotherapy does not help, we will discuss the options of a Spine Steroid Injection

Minimally Invasive Surgery: I consider Spine Surgery only as a last resort. I had Spine Surgery myself and fully understand your anxieties around Spine Surgery.

Clinical Reports: Following your consultation, you will receive a detailed specialist report on your condition, along with a Consultant Radiologist’s report on your MRI scan.
